THE LABYRINTH OF LANGUAGE
Charles Sandison, born in 1969, is an English-born Scottish visual artist who lives and works in Tampere, Finland. He transports viewers into the fascinating world of the labyrinthine complications of language. His words and symbols dance, float, meet and mingle across darkened gallery walls, indeed across the whole structures of exhibition spaces. Sometimes aggressive, hasty and then slow and peaceful again, it seems as if he makes words acquire a life and logic of their own. In the middle of the kaleidoscopic swarms of words we feel as though we have landed in the mouth of thought itself, in which words become the protagonists of stories about the origin of being.
