Hennessy settles in Kazantip

  • WHEN

  • COMMENTS It's not a festival, it's a total republik!

A unique festival

There's no simple way to describe the Kazantip festival. Started 20 years ago as a simple windsurfer beach party on the shores of the Black Sea in Ukraine, the festival now encompasses a month of revelry that includes trance, house, and techno music - not to mention the Freak Parade, the New Year's Eve party on July 31st, the Fast Married ceremony...

The organisers call it a "republik." Kazantip has indeed its own constitution, entrance visas, president, ministers - of happiness, dance and rave, intellect, visuals and illusions... and laws. This is a kind of festivals that is entirely free-wheeling, like Burning Man in the United States. Music there is, in spades. But there's also crazy-dressed festival-goers, the ubiquitous yellow suitcases (symbol of the "Republic") and non-stop partying. It has become an icon of good times. And it's also won the Ibiza DJ award.

Hennessy settles in Kazantip

Hennessy has always had a close connection with artists and musicians, sponsoring concerts and events around the world. So it's only fitting that the Maison take itself to Kazantip. For the first time, in fact, Hennessy participated in the festival. DJs were given the chance to visit the Republik and showcase their skills to the "citizens." DJ Misha DOP'Q was judged the best by presiding DJ Dr.Spy.Der. Like everything else at Kazantip, it was wild, woolly and wonderful. What we would call an Experience with a capital E.
