Hennessy’s Racing Heritage
The Hennessy Gold Cup, widely regarded as Ireland’s premiere steeplechase event, takes place in the prestigious Leopardstown Racecourse annually in February. Ranked as Ireland’s leading cognac, Hennessy has always been a major supporter of racing and next year, Hennessy celebrates the 23rd running of the Hennessy Gold Cup. The Hennessy Gold Cup is one of the greatest social events in the Irish calendar and over the years, it has played host to a number of well-known celebrities from the world of racing, fashion and entertainment. The Hennessy Gold Cup is run over a distance of approximately 3 miles (4,828 metres) and is contested by some of Ireland and Britain’s most distinguished horses. Quel Esprit, ridden by champion jockey Ruby Walsh, won in impressive style at the 2012 Hennessy Gold Cup with owners The Red Barn Syndicate and trainer Willie Mullins expressing their thrill with the result, as 2012 was Willie Mullins’ eighth Hennessy Gold Cup win. The Hennessy Best Dressed Lady is also an integral part of the day, as ladies from across Ireland dress to impress to win the coveted title. The style stakes are set to be high again in 2013, as the winner will receive a voucher for €7,000 to spend at Design Centre, Ireland’s leading destination store. Last year, the newly titled Hennessy Best Dressed Lady, Margaret Connolly, was also crowned Cheltenham’s best dressed lady, proving that Hennessy is a trail blazer not only for sport, but also for style. Contestants can enter the Hennessy Best Dressed Lady in advance by registering via the app on the Hennessy Cognac Ireland Facebook page before Tuesday, 5th February, 2013 or by presenting themselves at the registration desk in the Hennessy Best Dressed Lady marquee on Race Day.
