Deejay and red-carpet personality, JaKissa Taylor, is better known to fans as DJ KISS.
Recently named a "Woman on the Verge" by Playboy.com, this New York-based beauty brings her love of music and people wherever she goes. Attend any of the country’s hottest parties and you’ll likely catch her behind the turntables serving up her signature mix of sexy, high energy tunes. When not behind the decks, you can catch Kiss on red carpets around the country, at times interviewing your favorite celebrities, at other times working the red carpet as a budding celebrity herself.
DJ KISS regularly performs at high profile fashion, music, and corporate events around the country. Sean “Diddy” Combs has personally requested KISS to spin at some of his sexiest parties, most recently his multi-million dollar, A-list after party for his Walk of Fame Ceremony in the Hollywood hills, and his Sean John Fall 2008 Collection After party at New York hotspot, Tenjune. KISS also recently performed at designer, Kira Plastinina’s star-studded launch party in Los Angeles; at events for international wedding gown label, Pronovias, in both New York City and in Barcelona Spain; and at the Launch of Versace mensware with Donatella Versace in New York City. She also served as musical director and official DJ for 5WPR at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. Her diverse client list includes Complex Magazine, People Magazine, Conde Nast, Ciroc Vodka, Hennessey, Gen Art, Harrison & Shriftman PR, Nike, Reebok, Strategic Group, WEEN (Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network), Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HHSAN), Pronovias, Versace, Kira Plastinina, and Sean “Diddy” Combs among others. KISS has been featured in King Magazine, Star Magazine, and The New York Times, as well on sites such as Playboy.com, Younghollywood.com, and Reuters.com. She has performed with musical artists such as Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles, and Gym Class Heroes and for numerous celebrities such as Bruce Willis, Spice girl Mel B., Denzel Washington, Lil’ Jon, Cee-lo of Gnarls Barkley, Nas, Kelis, and Big Boi of Outkast. In addition to performing at special events, DJ KISS holds residencies at some of NYC’s most exclusive spots including Gold Bar, and Upstairs. You can also regularly catch Kiss spinning guest spots at other hot clubs such as: Marquee, 1 Oak, Tenjune, Room Service, The Box, and Boucarou in New York as well as at guest spots at clubs in top markets around the country including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, and Atlanta.
A Louisiana native, DJ KISS, moved to New York to pursue a career in entertainment. She has modeled for several publications, as well as in campaigns for prêt-a-porter, Victoria Bond, and Tamara Pogosian. Later, KISS studied acting at the esteemed William Esper Studio in Manhattan.
The Meisner-trained actress has appeared in two independent films and several commercials. In 2005, KISS landed a coveted gig as a red carpet correspondent for a popular online entertainment program, where she worked red carpets alongside veteran correspondents interviewing today’s hottest artists such as Jay-Z, Ludacris, Fall-Out Boy, Ashanti, Wyclef Jean, and Chris Brown; musical legends of our time (Quincy Jones); A-list actors and personalities (David Hasselhoff, Angela Bassett, Regina King, Garcelle Beauvis, Carson Daly, Damon Wayans, Tyson Beckford, Mario Cantone, Paul Reuben, Phylicia Rashad, Star Jones, Nick Cannon); and world class athletes (Chris Webber, Gary Payton, Tony Hawk). Her reel is available upon request. A music lover and collector for most of her life, KISS discovered “the mix” after a chance meeting with her mentor, DJ M.O.S. Impressed with her extensive musical knowledge and sheer love of music, M.O.S. decided
to teach her the basics of DJing. Shortly thereafter, KISS bought two Technics 1200s, a set of her favorite classic soul records, and began practicing everyday. Upon the urging of some friends she made her DJ debut at the exclusive Cain nightclub. Her debut was met with such a good response she was soon spinning at some of NYC’s hottest spots. DJ KISS has earned the respect of her DJ peers and tough New York crowds with her talent and knowledge of music.
