The prestigious 2008 Hennessy X.O Literary New Irish Writer Award was presented to David Mohan from Dublin for his poem, Runaway; The Prodigy. David claimed the Emerging Poetry category prize, with the other category winners on the day being Eimear Ryan for the Best First Fiction (Caterpillar) and Kevin Power for Best Emerging Fiction (The American Girl).
One of Ireland’s most prominent and best selling authors, Dublin born Hugo Hamilton was inducted into the Hennessy X.O Literary Awards Hall of Fame.
