Jay Chou – Asian King
Jay Chou is a Taiwanese musician, singer, producer, actor and director who has won the World Music Award three times in 2004, 2006 & 2007 as the best selling Chinese Artiste. Trained in classical music (piano & cello), Chou innovatively combines Chinese and Western music styles to produce songs that fuse R&B, Rap, traditional Chinese music, Western classic piano and Rock & Roll.
From songs such as “Dong Feng Po”, “Ju Hua Tai” to the smash hit “Qing Hua Ci”, the combination of beautiful lyrics and classical music, blended together with Chinese cultural elements in his music represents the true spirit of Jay’s style. His talent for music is widely recognized by some of the most well-known artistes in the industry, making him a highly sought after composer and producer.
Having established himself as a top Asian musician, Jay Chou has also gone on to develop his career in the movie world, as both an actor and director. On the big screen, he starred in Initial D (2005) and Curse of the Golden Flower (2006) directed by Zhang Yi Mou.
During the 42nd Taiwan Golden Horse Award, Jay Chou took home the Best New Actor honour.
His first self-directed movie “Secret” was also highly recognized in the 2007 Golden Horse Awards:
