Jaurim, the most popular South Korean rock band, has pursued an unconventional route of music since their debut in 1997. By insisting on original compositions, they impressed their fans with their unique music. From the initial punk and rock music to light rock integrated with jazz elements, Jaurim always insists on using music to express their souls and ideas. The individual charms of the lead singer, Kim Yun-a as well as the band’s outstanding live performances make them the most popular rock band in South Korea. Jaurim means “forest covered under magenta-coloured rain”. Just like the name of the band, its music style is romantic and imaginative. In 1997, the band released its first album “Purple Heart”, which demonstrated the members’ exceptional talents in music. The flexible ever-changing melody and exquisite composition added spiritual life to the whole album. ‘Hey Hey Hey’, ‘Break Away’ and ‘Beeswax Angel’ from the album have become popular songs, thus consolidating the band’s status as a spiritual band in music circles. Jaurim is also trying to integrate more elements by diversifying into television performances, concerts and album distribution. Other than being a host and advertising model, the lead singer, Kim Yun-a, released her first solo album and essays entitled ‘Sound of your smile’ in 2001, leaving behind popular songs such as ‘Spring Pass Away’ and ‘Wall’. In 2004, she released her second solo album ‘Glass Mask’ to show her astonishing all-round talents to the world.
