JR, born Tabure Thabo Bogopa Junior, is one of SA’s best-loved hip-hop acts. His love for music started with singing in a choir when he was in grade 5. In 2003, JR launched the crew “Rhythm and Poetry”, which paved the way for record deals, resulting in his signing with Independent Music label, Electromode Music, in 2007. JR’s debut album, The Main Event, was released in April 2008 and the track, Gata Le Nna, has already received massive attention on radio across South Africa.
