Christine Rousseau, 43, has been the editor of Le Monde des Livres since 2002, after having been a sub-editor there for 8 years. She was also in charge of the French literature desk from 2006 to 2008.
The prize ceremony took place on 24 March 2010 at the Lapérouse restaurant, in the presence of a large number of personalities from the arts and literature circles such as Daniel Picouly, Inès Sastre, Anne Plantegenet, Colombe Schneck and Hortense de Labriffe.
The Prix Hennessy du Journalisme Littéraire was established in 1990 and is awarded each year to a French-speaking literary critic working for the written press.
The selection criteria of the Prize are quality of writing, independence of judgement and contribution towards the discovery of new talents; the material studied being a body of articles (critics, chronicles, investigations, reportages) published in the press.
This Prize, which is worth 7,000 euros, is very much in keeping with Hennessy philosophy, the Maison having been intensely involved in activities of cultural and artistic philanthropy since its foundation in 1765.
