Shooting hoops in the most stunning athletic arenas

On the eve of the playoffs, where the spirit was set as high as the position of the sun, Hennessy and the NBA brought their new partnership to a very special location. Known for its glistening ocean, pristine sands, reliable surf and seaside spirit, Sydney’s Bondi Beach – perhaps the most famous beach in a country overflowing with them – has always had a certain allure. A half-mile crescent of golden sand bookended by cliffs, laid back coastal lifestyle, and thriving, eclectic community.

It was there, in the epicenter of Sydney beach culture and gorgeous sceneries, that the photo-friendly Icebergs swimming pool turned into a jaw-dropping black basketball court. Next to the sea in arguably one of the most picturesque sporting venues in the world, the basketball court quickly made a splash on the Internet. The former professional basketball player Corey "Homicide" Williams was one of the attendees, enthusiastically shooting hoops, playing one-on-ones, and embracing the spirit of the NBA. “Basketball is iconic in our culture. To see the NBA and Hennessy in a global partnership, it’s incredible to me.”

The venue – with its stunning deep black basketball court – looked majestic and rebellious, and quite different from its pool’s signature turquoise water. The invitees were greeted by an incredible contrast: basketballs arcing towards the hoop while surfers pulled into perfect four-foot waves that were rolling in alongside the pool, breaking on the rocks a few feet away. Occasionally, a larger wave breached the concrete wall and splashed gently over, leaving one lingering though: has there ever been a more beautiful place to play ball?
