Indispensable to the development of our cognacs, energy is of paramount interest to Hennessy. It is our daily endeavor to reduce our energy consumption and employ new, clean and renewable energies.

Hennessy first calculated its carbon footprint in 2002. We have since repeated and expanded this initiative to include energy assessments that have drastically reduced our energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions: combustion optimization, in particular, has decreased gas usage at our distilleries by 20%. We have also been attentive to developing sustainable transportation: over 90% of our products are transported by sea or rail, and electric vehicles are employed for inter-warehouse transportation. In honor of Sustainable Development Week 2012, the house has eagerly focused on sustainable energy. Eco-Design Hennessy strives to minimize the environmental impact of its packaging base on life cycle analysis, while remaining attentive to the quality expectations of luxury goods. We evaluate the environmental impact of all proposed designs and encourage the use of recyclable, green materials. Sustainable Viticulture Hennessy is involved in sustainable winemaking through the commitment of its wine-growing subsidiary SODEPA, having reduced inputs as per the requirements of the French “Environmental Grenelle”. In 2011, Hennessy was named an exemplary farm under the 2018 Ecophyto Plan.
