HENNESSY HONORS THE CHINESE NEW YEAR 2019

In keeping with Maison tradition, Hennessy is proud to invite an emerging artist to create a unique piece of artwork celebrating the Chinese New Year

February 2019 ushers in a particularly auspicious year in the traditional Chinese calendar: the Year of the Boar. A symbol of courage in ancient times, the Boar today is believed to augur a time of generosity, new energy and prosperity.

To convey the emotion of this New Year, Hennessy invited Guangyu Zhang to create an artwork. Using his signature digital collage technique, the Shanghai-based artist drew on his personal lexicon to highlight Hennessy’s history and express his sensibility as an artist who bridges Eastern and Western cultures. The result is a mystical fusion in which Chinese symbols, values and artistic traditions blend seamlessly with a contemporary and international spirit.

This artwork celebrating the Chinese New Year marks his first collaboration with the Maison Hennessy.
