Preserving, enriching and passing down our shared heritage
Living Landscapes
"Living Landscapes" is Hennessy's vision for the future beyond just our own vineyards, for the whole Cognac AOC. Together with other cognac Maisons, our winegrowing partners and the industry at large, we share a common asset, the Cognac terroir, which is now threatened by climate change.
At Hennessy, we are convinced that together we can design new, resilient, rich and fertile landscapes, so that together we can live off the land and pass it along to future generations more beautiful and more vibrant than ever.
Together, let's shape the landscape of the future!
Nurturing a shared ambition for the Cognac region
The Cognac region is unique in the world. In this part of the Charentes region, generations of men and women share a common destiny and, through their work and the transmission of their expertise, have created the precious asset we all share.
Protecting the soil, biodiversity and living organisms is our communal responsibility. Together with other cognac Maisons and the entire industry, our aim is for 100% of our winegrowers to obtain Cognac Environmental Certification by 2028.
Initiate and develop agroforestry projects
Trees offer powerful solutions for regenerating soil, preserving biodiversity and retaining water. Planting hedges and trees and creating ecological corridors make the whole landscape more attractive. And the whole region becomes more virtuous.
For this reason, Maison Hennessy launched the "1000 Palisses" project, recognized by IUCN France (the International Union for the Conservation of Nature), which aims to create 1,000 kilometers of hedges and trees throughout the Cognac region within 10 years.
Raising awareness, and training and supporting winegrowers
Hennessy's teams are working with all its partner winegrowers towards Cognac Environmental Certification.
This five-pillar environmental certification promotes biodiversity, water, air and soil quality, manages soil life sustainably, pilots a restrictive approach to chemical treatments and aims for carbon sobriety.
Making ours the most beautiful and sustainable wine region in the world
