A captivating journey along the Charente. Explore our traditional cellars, delve into the artistry of cognac, then relax on a serene boat ride, savoring a Hennessy V.S.O.P cocktail bursting with flavors.
With the arrival of warmer days, Maison Hennessy unveils an exclusive odyssey through its historic cellars, time-honored artistry, and a leisurely boat trip on the Charente.
Your 1-hour tour starts in the venerable Faïencerie cellar, one of our traditional ageing cellars. A place where time stands still. Within its softly lit confines, hundreds of barrels are meticulously aligned, embodying a timeless mystique that spans generations.
There, delve into the art of blending and ageing eaux-de-vie, and discover the natural phenomenon known as the "angels' share" – the fruit of a subtle exchange over time between the cellar's air, the oak barrels, and the eaux-de-vie nestled within.
Your journey continues aboard on our solar-powered boat, a modern tribute to the traditional 'gabares' of yesteryear – those flat-bottomed boats that transported barrels of cognac towards Rochefort and the ocean.
Take in the picturesque scenery and historic buildings reflected in the emerald waters of the Charente, as you sip a seasonal Hennessy V.S.O.P. cocktail – a multifaceted blend commissioned in 1817 by the future King George IV of England to enthral guests at a colorful gathering.
With its inviting nose of sweet apricot and its charming palate of voluptuous vanilla and mellow oak, Hennessy V.S.O.P is smooth, charming and all embracing.
Your 1-hour journey is an invitation to discover the Charente in a new light – this emblematic river which stretches its meanders over 361km, and which, since ancient times and the Middle Ages, has seen boats laden with salt, wine, and the precious eaux-de-vie that made the city of Cognac famous.
This tour is offered in a bilingual French/English version. It is fully accessible to people with access requirements. Please note that for hygiene reasons, pets are not allowed on the grounds.
