HENNESSY COMMITTED TO FORESTS
Fostering forest regeneration through the FOREST DESTINATION* programme.
Our Maison Hennessy has chosen to conserve and regenerate forests with its 'Forest Destination' programme. In partnership with Reforest’Action, Hennessy has set the goal, in concert with local partners, of regenerating 50,000 hectares (more than 120,000 acres) of forestland worldwide by 2030. Additionally, it will support the communities whose livelihood depends on them.
Prepare, plant, cultivate, transmit. In our reforestation projects, each of these four steps is essential. By the end of 2022, 4,500 hectares (11,120 acres) of forestland have been regenerated. The challenge lies not only in thinking about repairing today but also in passing on the message to future generations as a top priority.
THE FIRST PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY HENNESSY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
In Chifeng-Hulunbuir, the degraded land restoration project led by Reforest’Action and our local partner The Nature Conservancy helps local communities generate additional income by growing mushrooms and berries, raising poultry and growing medicinal herbs under the planted trees.
To date, 571 hectares (1,410 acres) have been regenerated and 918,710 trees have been planted.
In rural Guizhou, China, Reforest’Action and our local partners Linda Forestry and Guangxi Chongzuo Linda Forestry Co. aim to reforest degraded land to regenerate the ecosystem and enable people in neighboring villages to improve their standard of living.
To date, 192 hectares (474 acres) have been regenerated and 571,641 trees planted.
Josephine – Oregon
In Oregon, Reforest’Action and our local partner Harbor Day Foundation have replanted 193,544 native trees on 196 hectares (484 acres) of land that were severely damaged by recent wildfires.
To ensure food security for local producers in Jos, Nigeria, Reforest’Action and our local partner, Green Sahara Farms LTD, have planted 500,000 species of fruit and legumes.
2,675 hectares (6,610 acres) have been regenerated and 530 people have benefited directly from this project.
In the Analamanga region, forest cover must be restored to fight global warming and slow soil degradation. 200,000 local species of tree have been planted on 65 hectares (160 acres).
This project, led by Reforest’Action and local partners 2400 Sourires and Siel Bleu, also aims to support the economic development of communities. A forestry school has been created to raise awareness about forest protection.

In South Africa, the project led by Reforest’Action and our local partners, Breedekloolf Wine and Tourism and Intaba Environmental Service, aims to restore an endemic forest ecosystem by replacing invasive plants with local species.
39 hectares (96 acres) were regenerated and 200,000 trees planted, helping to combat water stress. This project also focuses on educating local communities about the benefits of reforestation.

A total of 1,076 people have directly benefited from this project, securing their food supply and improving their socio-economic conditions.

A sustainable forest management
Hennessy supports sustainable forest management at home in France. Since the 1970s, its own forest estate, the Bois de la Celle in the Allier region (460 hectares, or 1,137 acres) and the Bois de Bagnolet (78 hectares, 193 acres) have been managed according to those principles.
Hennessy also has recently committed to sponsoring the National Forests Office in the sustainable management of the Braconne forest. Located in the heart of the Cognac region, the forest has been damaged by various storms.

In 1870, Maurice Hennessy created Hennessy X.O for his circle of friends and introduced a new style of cognac. Hennessy X.O is the Original, the emblematic icon of the Hennessy Maison.
Deep and powerful, the eaux-de-vie of this Hennessy X.O cognac are aged in young barrels and marked out by their power and energy, but also by their capacity to achieve a great roundness through time.
Our Tasting Committee has explored every facet of the blend and identified several emotions that were assimilated to an Odyssey through 7 chapters:
- Sweet Notes: The palate is warmly embraced by flavors of candied fruit.
- Rising Heat: The intriguing sensation of an intense, rising heat slowly reveals the complex taste of eaux-de-vie patiently aged in oak barrels.
- Spicy Edge: Perception of a strong spicy cognac note, tantalising the lips and palate with its distinct peppery flavor intertwined with a hint of chocolate.
- Flowing Flame: A wave of warmth grows, crests and then breaks. A robust presence, full and voluptuous, is felt.
- Chocolate Lull: There is the gradual discovery of something very familiar. It is the well-rounded flavor of a rich, dark chocolate.
- Wood Crunches: A striking sensation is suddenly felt – the vigorous ebb and flow of oak notes interlaced with vanilla.
- Infinite Echo: The evanescent oak notes leave a long, omnipresent finish in their wake. Seemingly endless, it echoes all of the subtleties of each taste and sensation that has preceded it.
